Congratulations to Georgia Richter on her appointment as Publisher at Fremantle Press! In the past Georgia been a writer in residence at TCH and run several series of workshops for us.

Congratulations to Kevin Gillam on the furniture of thought being Highly Commended in the Shoalhaven Literary Award for Poetry 2008. His work prayer cushions has been commended in the Betty Bennell Award for Poetry 2008.

Congratulations to member and Past President, Brian Dibble, on the publication of his biography of past FAWWA member Elizabeth Jolley. Brian was a long-time colleague of Elizabeth's and has had complete access to her diaries, letters and unpublished works. The Press website calls this biography, Doing Life, 'a comprehensive testament to her life and work', which is a ' must-read for Jolley scholars and all lovers of Australian literature.'

Congratulations to member Geraldine Wooller whose novel The Seamstress has been long-listed for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. The list of 146 books includes eight other Australian books. The final winner will be announced on 11 June 2009.

Joyce Parkes has had fifteen poems published in 2008 - the last one for 2008 will appear on the December 2008 Cordite website, www.cordite.org.au Well done, Joyce!
